It's been an interesting week...

Casey passed away on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2009. Tony was here and that was such a blessing. He passed peacefully, but it was a shock to all of us because we really thought he had made a turn and was getting better. Mom took the news very well. Casey had been sick since January 8 and had been in and out of the hospital and in and out a rehab/nursing care facilities since the middle of January. It was hard on her because she misses having him with her, but she also knows that he is in a better place now and is not suffering. We are very glad for that.

Casey will be buried in Chicago, next to his first wife, tomorrow, March 9. There was a viewing this afternoon in Chicago, and the funeral with a full mass will take place in the morning. Please remember his family in Chicago as this is a very hard thing for them. Casey was the "rock" in his family and everyone depended on him in more ways than one.

We were able to have a Memorial Service here in San Antonio for family and friends. It was held on Friday afternoon at 4PM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church - the church Casey had attended for almost 20 years while living here in San Antonio. Deacon Jesse Greer and good friend John Dieterle did a wonderful job with the service.

I am so fortunate to have wonderful friends who love me and my mom. Food was supplied and flowers were sent. For all your thoughtfulness - thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was greatly appreciated.

My mom celebrated her 86th birthday on Thursday - just days after Casey passed away. Bob and Mary came in early from Amarillo to help us celebrate this special day for her.

John and Alene, Bethany and her little 1 year old Berkeley came for the service and to celebrate mom's birthday as well.
Here we have 3 generations - after the memorial service everyone kidded us for the outfits we had on and said we must be taking pictures afterwards... so we did!

Robbie (from California) had already planned to be here for mom's birthday celebration, so he was able to get to San Antonio just in time for the Memorial Service. John, my brother from Houston is in this picture along with Bob's wife, Mary.

This was taken at the gathering after the Memorial Service. We had a wonderful time together and again, appreicate the wonderful food that was provided.

You never know what good friends you have until you are in a situation where you need them. I am so blessed. Thank you all for the cards and prayers. It's hard enough to face the hard times, but you can endure when you are surrounded with good Christian friends.
We love you!

Thank you for sharing! We wish we could've been there to help support Gigi but it looks like she was surrounded with love. Love you!

I know there are no words possible to take away any pain that is endured when a loved one passes on to heaven but know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Take good care my friend.
