I was lucky enough to find a great deal on a 3 bedroom condo on the beach and the whole family was able to get away for the weekend - even Joey with his new "defender of the law" job, actually had the weekend and Memorial Day off (until 10PM when he reported for duty). We headed out on Friday night and everyone arrived in time to get their cars unloaded and then headed for bed!

Steph and her family had actually arrived by early evening and spent some time at the condo pool until the mosquitoes proceeded to literally carry them away! She texted us as we arrived at Mustang Island so we stopped at the local CVS for bug spray and sunscreen with bug repellent so we could fight those little devils and enjoy our weekend.

Saturday morning we spend a few hours on the beach where the water was wonderful. I expected it to be covered with sea weed, but it wasn't. The kids jumped the waves and the adults walked the beach. It was great, but HOT, so we headed to the pool where we spent most of the afternoon. We were close enough to the condo to grab some sandwich stuff and continue swimming.
We all decided we wanted to spend the day at the beach on Sunday, so that meant purchasing some gear. David and Jason headed out to Corpus to pick up a canopy, some chairs and floats... they were our heroes when they came back with all the "stuff" to complete our day at the beach!
Putting up the canopy was not as easy as it looked - but it went up fairly fast once we got it figured out. Having the space ready and the chairs and floats out was great. Everyone made their way down to the beach and we enjoyed the whole day there. Needless to say - by the time we packed up and went back to the condo it was nap time!
Monday morning we loaded up and headed back to SA by way of Snoopy's under the bridge for some fish! It was a great weekend and I can say we were blessed to have the whole family there together! I think we ought to plan to do something like these every year!
