Dr. Pepper Cake

Stephanie and Joey invited us over for dinner on Friday night. This was the last opportunity Jonell would have to see Ashton & Taylor since she flys back to Amarillo on Saturday morning. Steph was so excited! She had this wonderful dessert recipe she wanted to make for us. She kept telling us how much we were going to love it. Ashton surprised us with the name - Dr. Pepper cake! Who could ask for a better dessert. Dr. Pepper is the drink of choice by 99% of all Henning's and their descendants! Most of us are drinking the Diet version - since you can't tell any difference in taste - but the Matriarch of the clan - Jonell, i.e., Mother, MaMa, & Nana - still perfers the high calorie verison - regular Dr. Pepper.
If you read Steph's blog (you can clink on my sidebar one Live, Laugh, Love) you will see what she says about cooking. It's not her best attribute (from her mouth - not mine), but she has cooked a couple of things lately that might change all that! She seems happy enough in her kitchen with MaMa and Ashton.
Joey liked the cake so much he came back for seconds. That's very unusual for the guy who doesn't eat anything unhealthy! Looks like he's enjoying this piece of cake!
After dinner we decided to give Guitar Hero a try! This was a first for David and me. Steph is quite a pro - but we finally got the hang of it after the 2nd song or so.
You can see that I am enjoying it much more than David. I could have been a rocker in my younger years. Steph got quite a laugh out of my funky style!

We've had a great couple of weeks with Jonell's visit. It will be sad seeing her go home, but I know that she is anxious to get back home (to her own bed!) and leave this ungodly heat behind!
